What is
ADHD Coaching?
This style of coaching is a relatively new practise that has become more openly available to clients in recent years.
As with any type of coaching it compliments other medical and traditional practices when working psychologically and neurologically.
ADHD coaching is based on bringing focus and working on aspects of life that those with ADHD can find extremely difficult.
This includes helping with planning and scheduling, improving time management, building organisation and problem solving skills and setting goals.
Sessions are designed to break life down into small, easily manageable, pieces - focusing on the present moment and direct impact of the here and now.

What is ADHD?
ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) is a biological disorder that impacts the parts of the brain that are involved in planning, focusing, and managing time/tasks.
ADHD symptoms vary by sub-type — inattentive, hyperactive, or combined — and are often more difficult to diagnose in girls and adults.
ADHD is not a problem of laziness or willpower.
Symptoms can include:
-
Difficulty focusing.
-
Trouble staying on task.
-
'Shut down' when feeling overwhelmed.
-
Low levels of organisation in both work and home life.
-
Struggling academically despite higher intelligence levels.
-
Excessive movement, feeling restless, struggling to stay stationary or talking too much.
-
Acting with notable lack of consideration.
-
Never truly feeling rested.
-
Poor time management.
-
Undertaking several tasks at one time, while never finishing them.

What does this style of coaching look like?
These sessions help those with ADHD learn how their symptoms play out in their daily lives.
Questions we may focus on are:
What changes do you want to make in your daily life?
How can you motivate yourself to take action towards goals?
When motivation is lacking, how does this manifest within your life?
Do you struggle staying on topic or focused on just one task?
Does this affect you within work and maintaining relationships?

HOW EFFECTIVE IS ADHD COACHING?
Coaches help clients with action planning and building strong habits.
ADHD Coaching can also incorporate;
Solution Focused Therapy, CBT, NFP and Counselling modalities.
The biggest factor in determining the effectiveness of coaching is your own willingness and want for change.

Initial Consultation
For all potential clients, before beginning any sessions, I offer a free initial consultation. These are 45mins - 1 hour long and are conducted via Zoom.
The idea of an Initial Consultation is to assess whether or not the therapy/coaching I offer is the right-fit for you. It gives both of us a chance to understand how me way work together.
It allows you to answer questions about your symptoms, what brought you to therapy, your history; including your childhood, education, relationships and about your past therapy experiences and what you hope to get from therapy.
It is also a chance for me to explain prices, frequency of sessions, T&Cs and work out your end goal.
